Ships USP First-Class.Unlike many stars who win Comeback Player of the Year awards after an injury, Gary Sheffield brought his career back from the brink with the most-amazing single-season turnaround in many years. Once a sure-fire prospect with Milwaukee, he disappointed the Brewers, bottoming out with a .194 average in 1991. Traded to San Diego in spring training 1992, he set out to prove the Brewers wrong. Sheffield led his new league in batting average with a .330 mark, and his 33 home runs were the most by an N.L. batting champion since Billy Williams in 1972. With top-five finishes in batting average, homers and RBI (100), Sheffield thrilled fans with his Triple Crown chase and solved San Diego's longstanding third base problems.
